Princes Street East End tram works, March 2012
Over the weekend of 3rd March, the current worksite at the East End of Princes Street will be extended. The existing bus lane between Waverley Bridge and South St Andrew Street will be closed.
For general traffic, north <---> south routes will remain via Waverley Bridge - South St David Street and North Bridge - Leith Street.
At the same time, the Mound/Hanover Street junction will reopen for buses, taxis, cycles and emergency vehicles.

City centre tram works, January 2012
Major tram works will be commencing in January 2012 with revised and new City centre diversions for general traffic and public transport.
St Andrew Square area
From 5am on Saturday 7th January, the following roads will be closed:
- North and South St Andrew Street
- St Andrew Square east side
- West Register Street
- Princes Street between Waverley Bridge & South St Andrew Street EXCEPT BUSES.

Shandwick Place
From Saturday 14th January, Shandwick Place will close to all traffic.
- Citybound bus diversion via Manor Place - Melville Street - Queensferry Street - Charlotte Square;
- Westbound bus diversion via Lothian Road - West Approach Road - Morrison Link - Morrison Street - Haymarket;
- Citybound general traffic diversion via Magdala Crescent or Palmerston Place;
- Westbound general traffic diversion via Lothian Road - West Approach Road or via Queen Street.
- Alterations to traffic flows around Charlotte Square: Hope Street closes with general traffic diverted via Princes Street - South Charlotte Street - Charlotte Square east side.

Princes Street closure for tram works
To facilitate remedial works on the road surface and tram tracks, Princes Street will be closed to all traffic between Lothian Road and Waverley Bridge from the weekend of 17th September. The diversions will be phased in from early on Saturday morning with the full closure due to be in place by 5am on Monday 19th. Work is scheduled to be completed in July 2012 but there will be no work from 24th November until after the Winter Festivals period.
The scheduled diversions will see buses, taxis and cyclists diverted
along George Street for the duration of the works, while general traffic
will be rerouted along Queen Street.

Shore improvements
On 17th October work will begin on a series of environmental improvements to the Shore area. This includes widening of pedestrian walkways, upgrading guardrails and removal of street clutter. Parking restrictions will be in place and some carriageway occupation is likely.
As part of this project, Shore will be closed to all traffic from 24th October between Tolbooth Wynd and Bernard Street. Diversion routes will be signposted on street and Lothian Buses services 22, 35 and 36 will be diverted.
Work will stop on 25th November for the Festive period and recommence on 9th January until late March 2012.
